A Personal God

The bible declares that there are great and precious promises God has proclaimed will enable us to become partakers of the divine nature. So why then aren't we all walking like Yeshua/Jesus did? Mainly because God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He is the God of the individual. He NEVER forces Himself on a single soul and He desires His children love Him of their own volition. There is a difficult side to this and that is the fact that so many don't know God, but only know what they have heard about Him. Most of the press about God is hearsay and has little to do with the truth. We  hear, "God helps those who help themselves", "You never know what God is going to do", and after horrific storms and tragedies we are told they are "acts of God". One merely has to study the word of God to discover how inaccurate these sayings are. NONE of them are true or from the Bible.

If you go to the old or "first" covenant you might get the impression that God is like the mythological gods of Rome, the vikings and of Greece. That He is running around with lightening bolts and His big hammer just looking for someone to cross Him and "Whammo" they are flattened in the blink of an eye. God also has been given the reputation of a "kill joy". He is portrayed as one who doesn't want anyone to have a lick of fun and when the unsuspecting partier expresses the least bit of happiness, God judges and thumps him without a bit of mercy or compassion.  Again, this couldn't be any further from the truth. Sure God hates sin, but only because sin has invisible strings attached that kill its victims.

Knowing the nature of God goes a long way to removing the false ideas one has about Him. God is love. Again, we have some false ideas about love, but God has left documentation that demonstrates His love for us. First and foremost He manifested His Son to destroy the works of our adversary. We all have places where the adversary is effectively at work in our lives. Within the gray, darkened areas of our hearts and minds we have falsehoods and deceptions working. We are told not to be conformed by this world (crushed into a mold made by this world), but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. The word here in the original Greek is "metamorphosis". Study a caterpillar going from its original state to that of the butterfly or moth and you'll have a better understanding of what God wants to do for us. He desires for the earthbound caterpillar to be transformed into a heaven bound butterfly. God's goal is for "Christ" to be formed in us. This is called "the hope of glory". God's earnest expectation (the definition of hope) is for us to walk and talk like us.

For now, and until Gods timing is achieved we are kids with training wheels on. We see the big kids riding their bikes with great ease and freedom, but we are using training wheels.

The adversary is called "the accuser of the brethren", and that is precisely what he does. He is constantly working to convince us we aren't children of God.  Just as he did to the Lord after he was baptized in water and in e spirit, he does to us. He will say, "If you are the son of God..." he works to get us to prove we are worthy by trying to make us feel unworthy. Our value is hidden in Christ/Messiah. He is our hiding place. He is the cleft of the rock, the secret place. Our righteousness is his!
